The three other friends and I arrived at Cape Town on July 14th. On the second day we went to Worcester to begin our project at Eden High School and House of Maria. In the morning, we go to Eden High School and worked with the children there. Eden High School is a specialized school depends on charity donation because many students there are from very poor backgrounds. Also, the school accepts children who are physically or mentally disabled children, though, sometimes, both. The teachers there are very admirable because the work they are doing requires a great amount of patience. We did our best to be with the children, got to know their backgrounds, introduced our culture to them, etc.. We expected to do more if language was not a barrier for us.

In the afternoon, we went to the House of Maria to look after the orphans there. One afternoon Maria told me about the stories of the orphans, and i was really shocked. She told me how each child there was found. For example, there was a little girl there that was found by the highway. And the youngest boy named Lulu was found to be HIV positive, besides he needs a big brain surgery. Knowing these stories makes realize that there are many people in the world who are desperately needing help. And there are many people who are willing to give help to those in need no matter how hard their life have already been. The couple who founded the house are a great example. Maria told me that she has been looking after orphans for over 20 years and they just couldn't let go the unwanted children and let them live on the streets. "Their parents don't want them, and they have to be somewhere," she told me. My eyes were wet immediately. Other volunteers brought some puzzles to the house and we Played them with the kids. They seemed to enjoy them a lot. I felt really good about the things I could do for the children.Though my help is so little compared to what have the couple done, I was glad that I could at least contribute something to the orphans there.

This trip meant a lot to me. I learned a life lesson and am determined to do more for the people in need. Also, thanks to Dream Catcher foundation for arranging this trip and making it happen.

I really enjoyed this trip to South Africa. And thanks for the institutions of our reception and arrangement. My friends and I had a wonderful day. We see the culture in South Africa different from China it's amazing I enjoyed it and tasted the local ethnic customs.

I also like the teacher and child at Eden school, especially the headmaster James. They all very enthusiasm and be kind to us. On the last day we shared email and presented gifts to each other. Everyone can not bear to leave. I wish I could stay more days in South Africa.

That would be the special memory of my life.
